To bring lasting peace in Afo chiefdom of Udu and Mararaba Udege community’s in Nasarawa Local Government area of Nasarawa State, the State Governor Abdullahi Sule yesterday disbanded two traditional rulers in the area.
The governor disclosed this while speaking with journalist shortly after inspecting the level of damage caused by recent clash between the two worried parties in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
While lamenting over the breach of peace in the area governor Sule, said that the Afo people should embrace peace and forgive one another instead of taking arms against themselves.
“Lack of understanding ourselves is mostly the causes of crisis everywhere. I know this crisis is as a result of leadership of the two communities this community belong to Afo but other tribes are also living in the community.
“Is high time for us to embrace ourselves for sake of development of the area. I’m here to plead with you to embrace yourselves and work for progress of the community. There is no development in an atmospheric of rancour is what prompted my visit to Udu without delay,” he lamented.
The governor also informed that the government would go to set-up a committee headed by ex-service chief to oversee the worried communities in order to allow the peaceful process of selecting of new traditional rulers in the community for the sake of peace.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, who also confirmed the dead of three persons during the ugly incident to journalist; warned the two worried parties from taking arms against themselves in order to ensure total peace in the area.
