The Obidient Movement in Sokoto State has donated N500,000 to over 100 patients at the Maryam Abacha Women and Children Hospital in Sokoto in commemoration of the 64th birthday of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Peter Obi.

The group visited the hospital, where each of the patients received ₦5,000 to help offset their medical bills. The donation was aimed at alleviating the financial burden on the patients and their families.

According to the organizing committee chairman in the State, Abubakar Yawalle, the outreach was part of a nationwide humanitarian effort simultaneously taking place across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“We are doing this because this is what our principal, Peter Obi, has been clamoring for,” Yawalle said. “Our political mentor has been involved in such gestures both before and after the 2023 general elections.”

Yawalle stated that the gesture was inspired by Dr. Peter Obi’s commitment to humanitarian causes, adding that Obi has been involved in similar gestures both before and after the 2023 general elections.

He recalled Obi’s visit to Sokoto in 2024, where he commissioned a borehole and other projects, demonstrating his dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians.

The donation was met with appreciation from the patients and hospital staff, who expressed gratitude to the Obidient Movement for their kindness and generosity.

One of the patients, who wished to remain anonymous, thanked the Obidient Movement for their support, saying, “We are grateful for this kind gesture. It will go a long way in helping us pay our medical bills.”

The celebration of Dr. Peter Obi’s 64th birthday has been marked by various humanitarian activities across the country, showcasing the impact of his leadership and the values of the Obidient Movement.

The Obidient Movement has been known for its humanitarian efforts, and this donation is just one of the many ways they are celebrating Dr. Peter Obi’s birthday.

As the country continues to navigate its challenges, the Obidient Movement’s commitment to humanitarian causes serves as a beacon of hope for a better future.
