The Chairman of Mashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, Hon. Salisu Kallah, has announced the executive of 140 different projects across the 11 political wards of the council worth N300 million.
Kallah, who disclosed this Wednesday while briefing journalists in Mashi after inspecting the projects, said the execution of the projects was part of his commitment to support Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s quest for better Katsina.
During the media tour, journalists inspected roads, schools, hospitals, water, agricultural as well as flood control projects executed by the council chairman and the state government under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s leadership.
Kallah explained that the 140 projects awarded and completed by his administration includes rural feeder roads, solar-powered streetlights, construction and renovation of health facilities, schools and drainages across the 11 wards of the local government.
“We at the local government level, we have awarded and completed 140 projects, including construction and renovation of primary schools, hospitals, streetlights and roads within and outside Mashi town”, he added.
He, however, said among the 7,325 primary and secondary school teachers recently recruited by the state government, over 700 were from Mashi local government, adding that the gesture has improved teaching and learning.
He reiterated that the state government also distributed 45 bags of fertilisers each to 11 wards of the council, totalling 495 bags to farmers and water pumping mechines for irrigation farming in the area.
He said: “With these interventions, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda has introduced all-year-round farming in Mashi local government and is yielding postive results for our farmers.”
The local government boss added that the construction and inauguration of Katsina State Transport Authority park in Mashi town by the state government has significantly reduced transportation cost as well as the safety of commuters.
