Aggrieved ADC Aspirants Reject Kano Primary Election Results

Ahmad Muhammad, Kano

Eighty-two aggrieved aspirants under the David Mark faction of the ADC in Kano State have rejected the outcome of the 21st May 2026 primary election, citing irregularities in the process.

The Spokesperson for the group, Wada Masu made the complaint while addressing a news conference at the Kano NUJ Press Centre on Tuesday.

“We have called this press conference today to formally express our deep concern and dissatisfaction regarding the purported primary elections said to have been conducted in Kano State for the African Democratic Congress on the 21st of May, 2026.

“It is important to clearly state that on the same day the so-called primary elections was said to have taken place, all aspirants were participating in the screening exercise,” he said.

He added “This development alone raises serious questions about the legitimacy and transparency of the exercise claimed to have been conducted.”

According to him, the Elections Committee officially invited all aspirants on the 22nd of May, 2026, for a consensus meeting, with clear communication that if consensus failed, primary elections would subsequently be conducted.

“This directly contradicts the claim that a valid primary election had already taken place on the 21st of May, 2026. These irregularities constitute a serious threat to internal democracy, fairness, justice, and the credibility of our great party,” Masu said.

The aggrieved aspirants who contested House of Reps, Senatorial and State Assembly seats, called on the national leadership of the ADC and all those concerned to intervene and ensure the right thing is done by investigating the matter.

“We are calling on the National Leadership of the party, and all those concerned to quickly and immediately intervene and ensure the right is done by investigating this matter thoroughly and provide a fair, free, lawful, and lasting solution in order to prevent any crisis in the party.
