Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator in Kaduna State, destroyed three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Zamfara State and recovered 73 livestock abandoned by fleeing terrorists during separate operations across the North-West.
The operational successes were recorded on October 8, 2026, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
In Kaduna State, according to the statement, troops of Sector 1, acting on credible human intelligence, arrested a suspect identified as Yusuf Adamu at Kuyello in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area over his alleged links to terrorist activities.
The statement said preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed that the suspect was involved in recording a video of a female kidnap victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted by terrorists to facilitate a ransom demand.
It noted that the suspect further alleged that the victim was subsequently killed after the ransom was delivered and that he received ₦50,000 for his role in the incident.
The statement added that the investigations were ongoing to apprehend the alleged principal suspect, identified as Yusuf Iliya Sani, as well as other individuals suspected of collaborating with the terrorists.
In a separate operation in Zamfara State, the statement said the troops of Sector 2, working alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, located and destroyed three IEDs planted by terrorists along the Magami–Dansadau road.

It stressed that the successful operation is expected to enhance the safety of commuters and residents using the route by reducing the threat posed by explosive devices and improving freedom of movement.
Also in Zamfara, the statement noted, the troops of Sector 2 responded to intelligence reports about terrorists moving rustled livestock between Kombo and Gurusu villages.
It explained that the troops swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the suspected terrorists, whose movement was reportedly disrupted by effective military fire, forcing them to flee and abandon the animals.
The statement reiterated that livestock comprised 14 camels, 19 cows and 40 sheep, bringing the total to 73 animals, were recovered from the suspected criminals after the gun battle.
It disclosed that the troops, working in conjunction with local vigilantes, subsequently moved the recovered livestock to a secure location for further action.
It described the operations as part of its sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist support networks, eliminate explosive threats and safeguard lives and property across the North-West.
It urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information about suspicious individuals, movements and objects to the nearest security formation to support ongoing military operations.
