We Are Not Afraid of Political Jobbers—Kwankwasiyya

By Muhammad Ahmad

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has declared that it is not afraid of political jobbers, but will not tolerate lies and character assassination against its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a statement on Wednesday, the movement said it remained prepared to engage political opponents on issues, policies, ideology, performance, and vision. However, it warned against deliberate falsehoods disguised as political commentary.

“While we remain prepared to engage political opponents on issues, policies, ideology, performance, and vision, we will not fold our arms and watch individuals deliberately manufacture lies, spread malicious allegations, or engage in character assassination under the guise of political commentary,” the statement read.

The movement stressed that freedom of expression must come with responsibility. It insisted that public discourse should be guided by facts, evidence, and honesty, warning that democracy cannot survive where propaganda replaces reasoned debate.

“Those who knowingly publish false and defamatory claims against our leader must understand that freedom of expression carries corresponding responsibilities. Public discourse must be guided by facts, evidence, and honesty. Democracy cannot thrive where falsehood is elevated above truth and propaganda is substituted for reasoned debate,” it added.

Accordingly, Kwankwasiyya issued a final warning: any individual, group, organization, religious leader, political actor, or public office holder who intentionally disseminates false and malicious allegations against Senator Kwankwaso or the movement must be prepared to defend such claims through lawful channels.

“No individual is above the law. No office is too high. No position is too influential. Whether the source of the falsehood is a politician, a cleric, a traditional ruler, a media personality, or any other public figure, we shall not hesitate to pursue every lawful remedy available to protect the integrity, reputation, and dignity of our leader and our movement.”

According to Mohammed, “As a movement founded on principles of service, sacrifice, and the empowerment of ordinary citizens, we understand that public office holders and political leaders will naturally attract scrutiny, criticism, and differing opinions. We welcome such criticism when it is constructive, factual, and aimed at strengthening our democratic culture.”

“Our leader, His Excellency Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has spent decades in public service and remains one of the most scrutinized political figures in Nigeria. Throughout this period, he has consistently demonstrated the maturity and tolerance required in a democratic society. Therefore, neither Senator Kwankwaso nor the Kwankwasiyya Movement is afraid of criticism or political opposition.” the statement added.
