Leadership crisis has erupted within the Katsina State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following a violent clash that broke out during a stakeholders’ meeting in Daura Local Government Area of the state, triggering the emergence of rival factions within the party.
The meeting, which brought together party leaders and stakeholders to discuss internal matters and strengthen party unity, degenerated into chaos after disagreements among participants escalated into a physical confrontation.
Eyewitnesses said tensions had been building during the deliberations before the situation spiralled out of control, forcing the abrupt end of the gathering.
The altercation, according to the eyewitnesses, marked the beginning of a deepening rift within the party’s leadership structure.
They expressed concern that the growing internal crisis could weaken the party’s structure and undermine its political relevance in the state if urgent reconciliation efforts are not taken.
However, political observers say internal disputes are not uncommon within political parties, but warned that failure to resolve such conflicts promptly could lead to long-term fragmentation.
Efforts to obtain official comments from leaders of the African Democratic Congress were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
However, investigation by Daily Mirror24 revealed that several party members have called for calm and urged the national leadership to intervene swiftly to restore unity and stability within the party in the state.
