As Muslim faithful across Gombe State continue the colourful Hawan Sallah (Durbar) celebrations, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Security Matters and Intergovernmental Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Musa Danbayo, has called on residents to celebrate peacefully and remain vigilant throughout the festivities.

Speaking with our correspondent, Danbayo urged the people to embrace the spirit of love, unity, and peaceful coexistence while reflecting on the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir.

Danbayo, who also holds the traditional title of Dallatun Doma Gombe, described the first day of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, popularly known as Hawan Sallah, as a joyful and spiritually significant event deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Gombe Emirate.
He explained that the celebration symbolizes gratitude to Almighty Allah, unity among the people, and the preservation of cherished cultural traditions.

“The Hawan Sallah represents honour, peace, dignity, and togetherness as the Emir, District Heads, title holders, horse riders, and well-wishers come together in a grand royal procession to mark the blessed Eid-el-Kabir celebration,” he said.
He noted that the event showcases the beauty of the Emirate’s traditions, respect for constituted authority, and the enduring bond between the leadership and the people.

Danbayo further highlighted the colourful display of decorated horses, traditional attire, cultural performances, and coordinated royal movements, which he said add glamour and prestige to the celebration while attracting admiration from visitors within and outside the state.
He added that the Durbar also provides an avenue for residents to pay homage, exchange greetings, strengthen relationships, and offer prayers for peace, progress, and prosperity in Gombe State and Nigeria as a whole.

The governor’s aide prayed for Allah’s acceptance of the sacrifices and acts of worship offered during the Eid period.
“May Almighty Allah accept our sacrifices, prayers, and acts of worship. May He continue to bless the Gombe Emirate with peace, unity, security, and abundant prosperity. May the spirit of Eid bring happiness, love, harmony, and countless blessings to every home,” Danbayo prayed.
