The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State has suffered another setback following the resignation of its State Publicity Secretary, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, who is expected to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Zaune announced his resignation in a letter dated August 5, 2026 and addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area, stating that his decision takes immediate effect.
He expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities over the years.
“I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities at the Local Government, State and National levels respectively. I therefore wish the party well,” he stated.
Zaune’s resignation which come barely 24 hours after the state’s APC governorship candidate, Jamilu Isiyaka Gwamna, paid a visit to Dukku Local Government Area, has sparked political interest in Gombe State.
Few weeks ago, ADC State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, resigned and joined the APC, declaring his support for Gwamna’s governorship bid.
The defections are expected to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections while raising concerns over the ADC’s cohesion in the state.
