Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed three farmers on their way to Atukpo community in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
An eyewitness told Daily Mirror24 that the tragic incident occurred on Monday at about 8 a.m. when the victims were traveling to the community on an errand.
The deceased were identified as Tailor Gayu, popularly known as Reverend Father, Zacharia Wudu, and James Delle Iwala — all married men with children.
A relative of one of the victims who craved anonymity, said in a telephone interview that the men were ambushed by the suspected bandits while on their way to deliver a message from their father in Atukpo, a Koro settlement.
Another relative, Mr. Nathaniel Ajeh, described the attack as “unfortunate, sad, and barbaric,” calling on the government to take urgent action to address the growing insecurity in rural communities across the state before it escalates.
According to him, the victims left home early in the morning to deliver the message before meeting their “untimely death.”
Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command for comments were unsuccessful, as calls to his mobile phone line were not answered at the time of filing this report.
