The 8 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army has emerged victorious at the 2025 Inter-Brigade Corporals and Below Competition held in Sokoto.
The competition, which spanned four days, saw intense drills and spirited competition among various formations.
The final standings were:
– 8 Division Garrison took first place
– 58 Signal Brigade secured second place
– 48 Engineer Brigade came third
Major General Ibikunle Ajose, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, commended participants for their dedication, discipline, and professionalism.
He highlighted the competition’s importance in enhancing operational capabilities and strengthening troops’ combat effectiveness.
Ajose encouraged all participants to learn from the event and prepare for future challenges, emphasizing the need for continuous training to address evolving security threats.
He also expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the organizing team for their support and coordination.
General Ajose further emphasized the significance of the competition, highlighting its dual role in testing strength and enhancing operational capabilities.
By encouraging all participants to learn from the event, he stressed the importance of continuous training to address evolving security threats and strengthen combat effectiveness.
The event served as Operational Capabilities and also serves as a platform to enhance operational capabilities, crucial for addressing security threats.
“It also meant to Combat Effectiveness, Continuous training and capacity building are essential for strengthening troops’ combat effectiveness.
“This event enable the soldiers to adapt to evolving security threats which is critical for operational success”, he stated .
