Wife Stabs Husband to Death Over Child In Bauchi

A 25-year-old Housewife, Salamatu Danjuma, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly killing her husband after an intense altercation.

Salamatu, who hails from Nadabo village in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state, stabbed her husband to death following his refusal to accept her six-year-old daughter from her previous marriage.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, said the decision of Salamatu’s late husband led to a serious domestic dispute among them.

Wakil, in the statement, said: “Preliminary investigations reveal that the couple had been facing marital challenges regarding the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

“Despite initial discussions with her family that seemed to favour welcoming the child into their home, the husband later refused, which heightened tensions between them.

“The situation escalated when Salamatu, feeling cornered by her husband’s refusal and in a moment of heated argument, used a knife from their bedroom, resulting in a tragic outcome.”

He, however, said after preliminary investigation by the command, the suspect would be charged to court for prosecution.
