Press Release
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded another significant success in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the North East, neutralising five terrorists and rescuing abducted civilians during a coordinated operation in Borno State.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Officer, Headquarters Joint Taskforce (North East).
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, 4 January 2026, according to the statement, was conducted along the Sojiri axis of Konduga Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops of OPHK, working in close collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged terrorist elements at a known crossing point in the area.
The encounter resulted in the neutralisation of five terrorists, with no casualties recorded among the troops.
During the operation, three civilians who had been kidnapped by the terrorists were successfully rescued.
Troops also recovered AK-47 rifles and other sundry items from the fleeing terrorists, further degrading their operational capacity.
The latest success underscores the sustained commitment of Operation HADIN KAI to aggressive and intelligence-driven offensive actions aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, while prioritising the safety and protection of civilians.
It also highlights the critical role of collaboration between the military and local security stakeholders in achieving operational effectiveness.
According to the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), troops’ morale remains high, and security forces continue to dominate the operational environment across the Theatre despite evolving security challenges.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its resolve to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and to restore lasting peace and stability in the North East region.
