Tambuwal Accuses Tinubu of Planning One-Party State as ADC Holds Congress in Sokoto

By Onuminya Innocent, Sokoto

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State, has accused President Ahmed Bola Tinubu of plotting to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

Tambuwal made the claim at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Sokoto State Congress.

Tambuwal, a seasoned politician, defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ADC, citing APC’s maladministration as the reason. He said his move was not driven by self-interest but a desire to join forces with like-minded Nigerians to rescue the country from APC’s failed governance.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives recalled his past political shifts, including leaving PDP for APC during Jonathan’s presidency and returning to PDP in 2018 due to Buhari’s governance. Tambuwal said he was persuaded by five colleagues to stay with APC in 2018 but insisted on his decision, citing Biharis failure in governance .

“When I rejoined PDP in 2018 , they sent 5 of my colleagues to persuade me but insisted, they told me I will loose reelection in 2019 I said everything is in the hand of God.

Tambuwal addressed delegates, outlining the party’s vision for Sokoto and Nigeria.

Tambuwal drew parallels between the current situation and the Abacha era, quoting late Bola Ige, who likened it to the five leprous fingers, saying Abacha wanted to turn himself to a sole candidate among all political parties. He said APC is trying to dominate politics, just like Abacha did.

He vowed that the party will continue dismantling APC’s and INEC’s obstacles, saying the party will not be intimidated. He urged Nigerians to join ADC in its quest for better governance

Tambuwal slammed Tinubu’s administration, citing failures in security, economy, power, and education. He said Buhari’s administration was better, despite its challenges

You can’t compare Buhari’s administration to this present administration in terms of performance,” Tambuwal stated. “Is it insecurity, economy, unemployment, epileptic power supply, education? In all sectors, this government has failed.”

Tambuwal dismissed INEC’s claims of interference, citing Supreme Court rulings that prohibit such actions. He said Nigerians are tired of APC’s governance and will kick them out soon.

At the Congress, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu was affirmed as ADC Sokoto State Chairman, with Kabiru Danfulani as secretary. Tambuwal

Sokoto residents are eagerly awaiting ADC’s next move, with some predicting a tough contest in future elections. The party’s new leadership is expected to galvanize opposition parties in the state.

As the drama unfolds, one thing is certain Sokoto politics has become more interesting. ADC is ready to take on APC in the battle for the state’s political soul.

The stage is set for a thrilling contest, and all eyes will be on Sokoto as the political drama unfolds.
