The Gombe State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), has commissioned four new water facilities in strategic areas of Gombe town.
According to the General Manager, Engr. Mohammed Gibrimu Ahmed, the facilities are part of 15 boreholes constructed by RUWASSA across Gombe State, each with a 30,000-litre water storage capacity, a mounted tank and three water-fetching points.
Engr. Ahmed stated during the commissioning on Friday that the provision of the facilities were part of efforts towards improving access to clean and safe water as well as strengthen the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.
The water facilities commissioned were those in the Police Area Command, Old Tashan Dukku; Dawaki Kofar Maidalan, Gombe; Yarima Quarters, Bye-Pass; and Wuro Shie, Bye-Pass, Gombe.
He explained that the intervention was part of the Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya administration’s transformation agenda aimed at ensuring that clean and safe water reaches communities across Gombe State.
“The four commissioned facilities represent another step in the implementation of the Raya Birni da Karkara (develop rural and urban areas) vision, bringing essential water infrastructure closer to the people while supporting improved health, sanitation and quality of life across Gombe State”, Engr Ahmed stated.
He then called on all beneficiaries to take ownership of the facilities, use them responsibly and ensure their proper maintenance so that the projects can remain functional and sustainable.
Community leaders at the different project sites thanked the Gombe State Government and RUWASSA leadership for the timely intervention, describing the facilities as important to the communities while assuring that the facilities would be protected and properly utilised.
