FOLLOWING the removal of subsidy on petroleum, the price of EVERYTHING, including services, went through the roof. It also gave a phenomenal push to an industry which only the politicians are adept at: CORRUPTION. It became the in-thing of most politicians in the country.
AND the PRICES are going to rise again from the first day of next year (2026), when a new tax regime kicks off in the country, the President’s company, REMITA, will no doubt be involved in the tax collection, as it started doing and still does in Lagos and other South Western states of Nigeria. The company is also involved in, where it is NOT doing the ‘job’ alone, collecting all chargeable funds on behalf of the government (supposedly).
CORRUPTION is BERTHED in Nigeria, until Citizens of the country decide ‘ENOUGH IS ENOUGH’, and do something to STOP it, as they did in BURKINA FASO.
YET, in a far away Brazil, the president told his counterpart that his regime had been able to ‘successfully rid Nigeria of CORRUPTION’. EVEN many institutions and organisations in the Western World smirked at the CLAIM, referring to the Nigerian president as the world ever in terms of corruption and divisiveness.
ACCORDING to the two world’ leading financial institutions, the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as Chatham House and FOX NEWS Television the number one citizen has only succeeded in making Nigeria TOO UNBEARABLE for most citizens. Some of them even went to the extent of predicting an even bleaker future for most of the citizens. He is referred to as ‘ONE TERM PRESIDENT’ by some of them.
RECENTLY, the Word Bank authoritatively ASSERTED that Nigeria stands at a crossroads despite the abundant natural resources, trillions of naira in revenue nearly half of its population is trapped in poverty.
IN a recent report, the global financial institution noted that 46% of Nigerians lived below the poverty line in 2024, with 52.5% falling into extreme poverty by 2025. This, it ominously warned is a humanitarian crisis, and a warning signal for policymakers.
THE bank stated, “You cannot borrow your way out of poverty. You must produce your way to prosperity”, adding that “Production, entrepreneurship and wealth creation must replace borrowing as the engine for sustainable poverty alleviation”.
AT the end of last year (2024), the Nigeria president was declared as the THIRD MOST CORRUPT PERSON in the WORLD, after President Ruto of Kenya, and former President of IndonesiaJoko Widodo. The three were adjudged by the Organized Crime and Corruption Report Project(OCCRP) as the most CORRUPT in 2024.
IT is hardly surprising, because two YORUBA elders, one alive, BODE GEORGE, and PA AYO ADEBANJO, dead, had warned that electing Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president would be a thing for which Nigerian voters would later regret. And their predictions have come to pass, in an even WORSE way than they predicted.
THEY appeared in agreement with the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, who was in no way responsible for ‘HOISTING’ Tinubu on Nigeria. The late former president ACTUALLY did NOT want Tinubu as his SUCCESSOR, and he did not hide that fact.
DURING the APC’s 2013 National Convention where Tinubu emerged as the flag bearer of the party, Buhari openly chose (voted) for the then Senate President, Distinguished Dr. Lawan Ahmed, so as for him to emerge as his successor. And the then Party Chairman, Alhaji AbdulLahi Adamu followed suit, which was why he immediately resigned when Tinubu was sworn in as President of Nigeria.
EVEN former President Olusegun Obasanjo, himself a thoroughbred Yoruba and who is NO SAINT himself, asserted in 2024 that “Most citizens know nothing but hunger since Tinubu took over as the President of Nigeria”.
THE First Lady, PASTOR Senator Remi Tinubu, announced her then forthcoming birthday (21/9/1960) on Federal and state owned RADIO and TELEVISION stations, sending out DETAILS of her ACCOUNT and BEGGING (COERCING) the Nigerian MONIED citizens “WHO WANT TO DONATE TO ME TO DO SO THROUGH MY ACCOUNT”.
NOT a few ‘IMPORTANT PEOPLE in the country, including state governors, sent her messages or felicitations, and other UNMENTIONED things from the citizens’ Commonwealth. This looks more like CORRUPTION, pure and simple.
WHILE some monied citizens ‘DONATED’ to her in MILLIONS, she was busy ENRICHING and EMPOWERING ONLY her own FAITH, NOT giving a DAMN about the other faiths in the country.
AND a lady head of a very important, and ‘LUCRATIVE’ agency, was once given a query during the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari, and was informed that the query had been forwarded to the president. It was a LIE, told to the IGBO lady, who had refused to accent to the UNGODLY request of her BOSS, the minister under whose ministry her agency was.
THE minister in question is TODAY one of the ranking leaders in the country, and who is so CORRUPT that he cold OUT CORUPT the president if he were the number one citizen in the country.
MAY God relieve power from the ENEMIES of majority of the citizens. Most of the citizens ONLY EXIST in the country, because SURVIVAL is almost IMPOSSIBLE.
