A renowned philanthropist and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdulaziz Maituraka, has commenced his annual Ramadan feeding programme for orphans and vulnerable persons in the state.
The daily feeding programme which commenced at the residence of the APC stalwart on the first day of Ramadan, targets 1,000 orphans, Al-majirai and the less privileged.
Speaking during the feeding programme, Maituraka said 500 orphans, Al-majirai and the less privileged would be fed during “Suhoor” and 500 during “Iftar” throughout the fasting period.
He said the daily feeding programme was geared towards helping the Muslim community who are in dire need of livelihood to be able to fast during the holy month of Ramadan.
He explained that the initiative is providing much-needed relief to struggling families by ensuring that those in need have access to nutritious meals.
Maituraka said: “Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the greatest pillars of Islam and is a period in which all Muslims concentrate on it through fasting, supplication, praying, and giving charity (Sadaqah).
“This is why I have resolved to commence the daily Suhoor and Iftar feeding programme targeting 1,000 people, including orphans, Al-majirai and the less privileged within Katsina, daily.”
He added that the initiative which aligns with the principles of the Holy month of Ramadan, would end with a special prayer for sustainable peace in the state.
