Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has assured civil servants that the ongoing staff verification exercise across the state is not aimed at victimising workers but at identifying vacancies and strengthening the public service system.
The governor gave the assurance on Thursday when he personally appeared before the verification committee at the Government House, Katsina, as part of the statewide exercise.
Radda said the verification process was designed to sanitise the civil service, remove irregularities from the payroll, and ensure that only genuine employees remain in government records.
He described the exercise as a critical reform measure needed to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the state workforce.
He acknowledged that the exercise might be stressful for some workers but stressed that it remains a necessary step toward building a credible and dependable personnel database for effective governance.
According to the governor, having accurate and verifiable staff records will enhance planning, financial discipline, and proper management of human resources across ministries, departments, and agencies.
He urged all civil servants to cooperate fully with the verification committee, assuring them that the process would be conducted with fairness and transparency.
“The exercise is in the best interest of the state and its workforce. Genuine workers have nothing to fear,” the governor said.
Radda further explained that the outcome of the verification would help the government determine actual staffing gaps and create opportunities for the recruitment of qualified youths into the state civil service.
He noted that the move aligns with his administration’s broader agenda of job creation and public sector capacity building.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to reforms that promote professionalism, accountability, and efficiency in the civil service, calling on all stakeholders to support the exercise for the overall development of the state.
Officials present during the verification included the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Falalu Bawale; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; Principal Private Secretary, Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; and the Chairman of the Verification Exercise Committee.
