The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a bandit attack on Sabon Gulbi Village in Musawa Local Government Area, killed one suspected bandit, recovered AK-47 rifle, ammunition and an operational motorcycle.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday in Katsina.
He said the incident occurred on July 29, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m. when the police received a distress call that a gang of armed bandits had invaded Sabon Gulbi Village.
He said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Musawa immediately mobilised a joint tactical team comprising police operatives and personnel of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) to the scene.
“The team engaged the armed bandits in a fierce gun battle, successfully repelling the attack. During the encounter, one bandit was neutralised, while several others escaped with varying degrees of gunshot injuries,” the statement said.
He added that a subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one magazine loaded with five rounds of live ammunition and an operational motorcycle believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects.
He further explained that efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing bandits.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ali Umar Fage, praised the officers’ bravery, professionalism and the synergy between the police and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps in repelling the attack.
According to him, the CP also lauded members of the public for providing timely intelligence that enabled the swift deployment of security personnel.
He stressed that the commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.
