NOA Urges Katsina Institutions to Facilitate Students’ Access to NELFUND

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has appealed to tertiary institutions in Katsina to ensure that their students access the Nigerian Education Loan Fund NELFUND.

The NOA Director in the state, Alhaji Muntari Lawal Tsagem, made the appeal in a statement issued in Katsina on Thursday, by Malam Mustapha Labo, the agency’s spokesperson.

He said that the institutions can do this by making the required online registrations that could link them with the NELFUND online page.

The Director said that the call became necessary considering how some of the institutions fail to comply with the registration requirements.

According to the NOA Director, failure to comply with the requirements has thereby denied their students the chance to apply for the loan.

“The students’ loan scheme is part of the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ of President Bola Tinubu, designed to make tertiary education easier for parents and help students to concentrate more on their studies.

“Under the loan scheme, tuition fees of students are paid directly to the institutions, and monthly up-keep amounts of N20,000 are paid to the students,” Tsagem said.

He further called on Student Union leaders of the institutions to encourage their members to apply for the loans.

According to him, this will enable the students to benefit from the huge amount of money the Federal Government sets aside for the scheme nationwide. (NAN)
