Lafia Youths And The Tragedy Of Political Banditry

A Cause For Serious Concern …

This is how Lafia my very own city, my birth place has become in the 21st century….

Lafia has been turned into the epi centre of political brigandage, unmitigated political violence and extreme idiocy in the way and manner politics is played by the opposing camps

I blame this on the total breakdown of leadership of Lafia town. The thugs and miscreants would not be unleashing bouts of violence against themselves and the innocent members of the society, if they were not supported and facilitated by their respective political benefactors

It’s sad and unfortunate to the extreme that when other communities around Lafia are focused on developing themselves academically and competing for higher education and higher placements in the government and private sector, our youths of Lafia town have allowed themselves to be used as cannon fodders for political violence

These political leaders who are using the youth in this violent enterprise are wicked souls who have no interest in the positive development of the youth

They have established themselves and are benefitting from the education they had, which paved the way for them to be what they have become today

Instead of supporting the youth of Lafia through the path of education and progress, they are turning them into political thugs and nuisances in the town, terrorising innocent members of the society

If political thuggery is a noble enterprise, why have they not drafted their own children into it?

And if all these thugs and miscreants have had the opportunity and/or support to have quality education, like the leaders and their children have had, the Youth now turned thugs would have been meaningfully and gainfully engaged in ventures that would benefit them and the community at large

Instead, the political leaders are only interested not in supporting the education and progress of the youth but in breeding an army of political thugs and street urchins

Their investment Is in supporting them with pea nuts to wreck havoc on their political opponents to further their selfish and self serving political ambition

Unfortunately the thugs have not wisened up to this reality because they have been kept uneducated and all they know is to live from hand to mouth on a daily basis

And no matter the outcome of election, win or loose, the thugs profit nothing of worth or significance. They are thrown under the bus until the next election cycle

This is the sad situation of the majority of our Lafia youths today.
