Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced plans by his administration to recruit 2,000 medical personnel and 2,000 teachers to boost manpower in the health and education sectors across the state.
The governor made the announcement on Wednesday while supervising a verification exercise conducted by a committee set up to carry out a comprehensive staff audit at Government House, Katsina.
Radda said employment letters would soon be issued to over 1,000 medical staff who have already been cleared, adding that an additional 2,000 health workers would be engaged to strengthen service delivery in hospitals and primary healthcare centres.
He explained that the recruitment of medical personnel is part of deliberate efforts by the state government to address staff shortages and improve access to quality healthcare services for residents.
According to him, the ongoing verification exercise is not intended to victimise workers but to ensure accurate records, identify manpower gaps, and create opportunities for qualified professionals to be employed where they are most needed.
The governor also disclosed that the state government would recruit about 2,000 teachers to replace those who retired and to fill existing vacancies in public schools.
He said the move is aimed at improving the quality of education and ensuring that schools across the state are adequately staffed.
“This recruitment exercise is aimed at addressing manpower gaps in our schools and ensuring that every child in Katsina has access to quality education,” Radda said.
He noted that the planned recruitment aligns with his administration’s broader agenda of strengthening public institutions, enhancing service delivery, and creating employment opportunities for qualified youths and professionals.
The governor urged members of the verification and recruitment committees to carry out their assignments with transparency, fairness, and professionalism to maintain public trust in the process.
He also called on residents to cooperate with government officials involved in the exercise, stressing that well-staffed health and education sectors are vital to the state’s overall development.
The recruitment process is expected to commence in the coming weeks after the completion of the verification exercise.
