Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State was guest to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State on Sunday where he commissioned four grassroots projects in Kwami LGA.
At the end of the projects commissioning in the evening, Governor Umara Zulum commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for what he described as “a celebration of service and development to the people”.
Projects commissioned were: roads and a bridge; Bojude Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat; Bojude District Head Palace; and Daban Fulani District Head Palace all in Kwami LGA and Bojude LCDA.
Governor Zulum said, “the projects address three important foundations of community progress: infrastructure, effective administration, and traditional leadership”.
According to him, each project has a distinct purpose, and when put together, they can improve livelihoods, strengthen institutions, and bring Government closer to the people.

“The roads and bridge projects are particularly significant. For our rural communities, a reliable road can make the difference between produce reaching the market and going to waste; between a child attending school regularly and struggling to get there; and between a patient receiving timely care and facing a difficult journey”, he stated.
As someone who has worked closely with communities facing serious development challenges, Governor Zulum said he understands the value of these connections.
“Better access supports trade, agricultural production, and the movement of people and services. I therefore commend the attention given to infrastructure in Kwami Local Government Area”, he noted.
Impressed by the shared vision of the North-East leaders whose Governors concluded their regional meeting on Saturday in Maiduguri to expand opportunities and strengthen public institutions in the region, Governor Zulum particularly commended Governor Inuwa for undertaking the projects commissioned.
Other shared vision according to him are, “to build communities in which our people can live and work with dignity. We must continue to learn from one another and sustain cooperation in pursuit of these goals”.
While congratulating the people of Kwami, and particularly the communities of Bojude and Daban Fulani over the projects, Governor Zulum advised that, “these facilities are public assets entrusted to your care. I encourage you to protect them, use them responsibly, and support their maintenance so that they continue to serve future generations”, he maintained.
He also cautioned that “commissioning marks the beginning of a facility’s service to the public. The work must continue through proper maintenance, effective administration, and a lasting commitment to the people for whom these projects were built”, he enjoined.
Governor Inuwa had earlier thanked Governor Zulum for coming to commission the project in Gombe shortly after the end of the quarterly meeting of the Governors of the region which was held in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The Governors had arrived Gombe from Maiduguri Sunday afternoon. Zulum thereafter left Gombe in the evening after the day’s engagements.
