Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, and the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have commended INEC for the conduct of Saturday’s by-election for Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency.
They described the process as credible and fair, saying it will serve as a litmus test for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
They both spoke shortly after casting their votes in their various polling units Saturday morning.

According to Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who spoke to Journalists at his Yahya Umaru Polling unit, Government Science Secondary School, Jekadafari, “the processes has been well arranged and peaceful with the turnout of voters very impressive. The Voters have shown great enthusiasm”.
He stated that as at the time of casting his vote, reports reaching him from the three LGA’s of Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye, all was going on well, and hopes it will end well.
He expressed optimism that his party, the APC will emerge victorious after the completion of collation and announcement of results.
He said the process was Hitch-free and shows an indication that future elections, particularly the 2027 elections will be a huge success.
On his part, the Governorship candidate of the APC, Dr Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, said INEC and its staff deserve commendation for the smooth conduct so far.

He told Journalists at his Sa’adu Mangu 007 polling unit in Jekadafari Ward that, “It gives us confidence that the 2027 elections will be organized in a much better way.

“I’m very much satisfied with INEC, more grease to their elbows as I have not received any report of hitches at the moment. The participations of the electorates is also satisfactory”, he maintained.
