Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated Tamaje Water Scheme , a critical project aimed at improving water supply to Sokoto and its surrounding communities.

Okpebholo, while inaugurating the water and roads projects, commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for embarking on the people-oriented projects in the state.

He urged Sokoto people to support the Governor Aliyu and also reciprocate his humanitarian gestures by voting for him in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

In his speech, Governor Aliyu expressed his gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting his administration the strength, wisdom, and capacity to complete the project.

He also recognized and appreciated the former Governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, who initiated the project during his administration.

The Tamaje Water Scheme is one of six critical water schemes being completed by the Sokoto State Government, with a total cost of N14,138,289,057.

The schemes are designed to boost urban water availability, ensure health, sanitation, and environmental sustainability.

The Tamaje Water Scheme alone is designed to provide 3 million gallons of water per day, while the entire six water schemes will provide 40 million gallons per day.

Governor Aliyu emphasized the importance of the project, stating that access to clean and potable water is a fundamental human right and a vital component of public health, social development, and economic progress.

The Governor reassured the people of Sokoto State that his administration remains committed to providing critical infrastructure, especially in the water sector. He disclosed that efforts are in top gear to improve power supply to water facilities, enhance their performance, and reliability.

Governor Aliyu called on the benefiting communities to take full ownership of the project, protect the infrastructure from vandals, and safeguard it at all times. He assured that the government will continue to carry out routine maintenance of the facility and other similar projects across the state.

The Governor expressed his gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to reposition the country for greatness. He assured the President of Sokoto State’s unflinching support.

With the inauguration of the Tamaje Water Scheme, the people of Sokoto and its surrounding communities can look forward to a sustainable water supply, improved health, and economic development.

In another development , Governor Okpebholo also commissioned three completed road projects in the Mabera area, worth over N2 billion.

The projects, which include the Chima-Rai Jumuat Mosque road to Mabera Roundabout, the Unguwar Rogo Police Station Junction to Mabera Roundabout, and the Mabera Roundabout to Musa Lukuwa Jumu’at Mosque leading to the Eastern Bypass, were commissioned on Saturday.

Aliyu said the projects were part of his administration’s urban renewal efforts, aimed at providing modern drainages and eliminating the annual flooding menace in the area.

He emphasized that the roads were not just infrastructure, but lifelines that represented access, mobility, safety, and dignity for the people of Mabera.

The governor called on the residents of Mabera to safeguard the infrastructure, maintain them, protect them, and take ownership of them.

The projects are expected to improve access, mobility, and economic development in the Mabera area and surrounding communities.
