The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has extended his condolences to the Chairman of ARISE Media Group, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, and the entire ARISE News family following the tragic passing of their News Anchor, Reporter, and Producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, fondly known as Sommie.
In a condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Radda described the late Somtochukwu as a young, brilliant professional whose passion for journalism and law made her an inspiration to her colleagues and the countless viewers who admired her work.
“The death of Somtochukwu is a painful loss not only to her parents and loved ones but also to the Nigerian media family and the nation at large. She embodied talent, resilience, and promise. Her sudden departure is a reminder of how fragile life is and how precious each moment must be,” Governor Radda said.
The Governor noted that Somtochukwu’s journey, though brief, was marked by excellence and dedication to her craft, leaving a legacy that will not be forgotten by those who worked with her or those who followed her career with admiration.
“She was more than a journalist; she was a voice of truth, a symbol of hope, and an example of youthful passion in service to society. Her absence will be deeply felt in the media space and beyond,” the Governor added.
Governor Radda urged her family, colleagues, and friends to take solace in the impact she made within her short but meaningful life, and prayed for divine comfort in this time of grief.
On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, Governor Radda extended his condolences to Prince Nduka Obaigbena, the ARISE Media family, and the wider Nigerian media community.
“May her memory be a blessing, and may her legacy of love and resilience continue to inspire all who knew her,” he prayed.
