Kebbi Gov Assures Students of Stable Scholarship Payment

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to education, guaranteeing stable and timely payment of scholarships to students of tertiary institutions in the state.

This assurance was made during an award ceremony in honour of the permanent secretary in the state Ministry of Youths and Sports, Alhaji Sa’idu Buhari Warah, organized by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) at the state Secretariat, Gwadangaji.

In a statement by his special adviser to the Governor, Abdullahi Idris Zuru, stated that Governor Idris has cleared over N4 billion in debts on unpaid scholarships, tuition fees, and other expenses, and is currently making regular payments for students’ fees and expenses.

The statement further stated that the governor’s commitment to education aims to improve academic excellence, reduce, burdens on parents, and provide a conducive learning environment.

According to the statement, Governor Idris has also increased feeding money for pupils across schools from N150 million to N300 million monthly and lifted the embargo on employment, with over 2,000 teachers employed.

It said Governor Idris’s administration prioritizes education, providing free education and scholarships to students in Kebbi State, making it the only state in Nigeria offering 100 per cent free education.

The awardee, Alhaji Sa’idu Buhari Warah, was recognized for his selfless service to the education sector, having risen through the ranks from a class teacher to his current position as permanent secretary.

Governor Idris’s efforts in promoting education in Kebbi State have been commendable, and his administration’s commitment to improving the education sector is yielding positive results.
