2027: Radda Directs Appointees to Strengthen APC at Grassroots

By Our Reporter

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has directed all political appointees under his administration to intensify efforts toward strengthening the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The governor gave the directive during an APC stakeholders meeting held at the Government House Sunday, Katsina, where he emphasised the need for sustained mobilisation, unity and active engagement at ward and polling unit levels across the state.

Radda said political appointees must go beyond their official duties and take responsibility for building a stronger party base within their respective communities, noting that grassroots support remains the backbone of electoral success.

He urged them to work closely with ward executives, local government party leaders and community influencers to expand membership, reconcile aggrieved members and ensure effective participation in party activities.

He said strengthening the APC from the grassroots will not only position the party favourably for future elections but also improve feedback channels between government and the people.

Radda said: “I have directed all the political appointees and APC stakeholders to return to their polling units, wards, and local government areas to strengthen grassroots mobilisation.”

The governor also stressed the importance of loyalty, discipline and inclusive leadership within party ranks, warning against actions capable of creating division at the local level.

He announced the constitution of committees to review party activities, monitor grassroots structures and assess projects executed by state, local, and federal governments.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Faruk Lawal, said the Radda-led government had initiated and implemented projects across all the 34 local government areas and 361 wards, ensuring no community was left behind.

He listed the recruitment of 7,325 teachers, sponsorship of students from rural communities, and the implementation of AGILE education projects as key milestones in education.

In the agricultural sector, Lawal said nearly N70 billion has been invested to improve productivity and support farmers.

He noted that mechanisation centres with sub-centres have been established across all LGAs, alongside the distribution of fertilisers and other farm inputs to boost yields and strengthen food security across the state.

He also pointed to the payment of pensions and gratuities, the procurement of streetlights worth over N3.5 billion, and the shift to solar-powered street lighting as major infrastructure gains.

On security, the deputy governor said the state has recorded more than 11 months without major attacks, supported by improved road access to vulnerable areas, the reintegration of repentant bandits, and the strengthening of local security through the Community Watch Corps.
