18-year-old Girl Allegedly Raped, Impregnated by Her Grandfather In Katsina

A 18-year-old girl, Firdausi, has been allegedly raped and impregnated by her 70-year-old grandfather, Salisu Saminu in Katsina state.

This was revealed by the International Human Rights Advocacy and Awareness Centre (IHRAAC) in a statement by its Executive Director, Dr. Salisu Musa on Monday.

The human right organisation has demanded justice for Firdausi and all victims of sexual violence, “and we will continue to advocate for stronger laws and policies to prevent such atrocities.”

The organisation said Firdausi’s case highlights the urgent need for stronger protections against sexual violence and exploitation.

The statement read: “18-year-old Firdausi from Katsina, Nigeria, was allegedly raped and impregnated by her 70-year-old grandfather, Salisu Saminu. This disturbing case highlights the urgent need for stronger protections against sexual violence and exploitation.

“The International Human Rights Advocacy and Awareness Centre (IHRAAC) is deeply concerned about the rising incidence of sexual violence against minors in Nigeria. Firdausi’s case is a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by young girls in our society.

“We are alarmed by the sheer brutality and impunity that perpetrators of sexual violence enjoy in our country. We demand justice for Firdausi and all victims of sexual violence, and we will continue to advocate for stronger laws and policies to prevent such atrocities.”

It added, “Join IHRAAC in demanding justice for Firdausi and all victims of sexual violence. Let us work together to create a safer, more just society for all.”
